What
We Believe - Doctrinal Statement
We believe the Bible to be the inspired, infallible,
authoritative and inerrant Word of God. (2 Timothy 3:16; 2 Peter
1:21)
We believe God eternally exists in three persons, who are one
in nature, attributes and perfection. These are God the Father,
God the Son, and God the Holy Spirit (Matthew 28:19; 2 Corinthians
13:14).
We believe Jesus Christ is both God (John 10:30, 33) and man (John
1:1-2, 14). Because of His absolute deity and His sinless humanity,
His death is eternally sufficient to atone for the sins of any
person who believes in Him for salvation (John 3:16; Colossians
1:13-14, 19-20).
We believe Jesus Christ rose from the dead literally and bodily,
appearing to many witnesses before ascending to the right hand
of the Father (1 Corinthians 15:4-6).
We believe man was originally
created in the image of God (Genesis 1:26-27), man sinned through
disobedience, and man is, therefore,
subject to physical death and eternal separation from God. As a
result of Adam’s sin, all men have a fallen nature, commit
acts of sin, and therefore man by nature cannot please God (Genesis
3:1-19; Romans 8:7-8).
We believe God justifies a person only through His grace and through
faith in Christ alone (John 3:16-19), and not as a result of any
sacramental or good works (Ephesians 2:8-9).
We believe the Holy Spirit indwells every believer to seal him
for eternity, enlighten and guide him through life, and empower
him for righteous living and ministry (John 14:16-17; Romans 8:9;
Ephesians 1:13-14, 5:18).
We believe in the personal, imminent and bodily return of Jesus
Christ to this earth for His church (1 Thessalonians 4:13-18).
We believe in the bodily
resurrection of both the saved and the lost—the saved to
eternal life in the presence of God, and the lost to eternal
judgment and separation from God (John 5:28-29). |
